An endeavor to promote our rich culture and heritage, the Malayali diaspora in Singapore replicated Pooram in our own Singapore, to the best extent possible. A Pooram Committee with like-minded people was formed and the Social Innovation park on 1 September 2019 witnessed a vast throng never seen before.
In Pooram 2019 we had the privilege to host His Excellency Mr. Javed Ashraf as our guest of honour along with distinguished luminaries such as Mr. Vikram Nair, Justice Judith Prakash. The first Singapore Pooram witnessed magnificent cultural experience highlighting Panchavadhyam and Pandi Melam – Traditional Indian Percussion ensemble led by Padmashri Peruvanam Kuttan Marar and Shri Chottanikkara Vijayan Marar along with an excellent team of artists from India. Surpassing committees’ expectations more than 6000 people attended the event and undoubtedly and with Almighty’s grace Pooram 2019 was a huge success.
When the pandemic hit, we were unable to organize such large event and Pooram was hold off from 2020 till 2022. 2023-Live events bounced back from pandemic and so as Pooram.
